Let’s break this pseudo-romantic-comedy bullshit down, shall we:
“She’ll scream and fight with you, but secretly, she loves it. […] Tickle her, even when she tells you to stop. When she starts swearing at you, tell her you love her. […] Get her mad, then kiss her.”
It’s stuff like this that supports rape culture. This isn’t love or romance or even cute. This mentality encourages men to disrespect and manipulate women’s boundaries and feelings, and it teaches women that their boundaries and feelings don’t fucking matter.
And this kind of post on Tumblr becomes dangerous because it’s being peddled to teenagers by a blogger who describes his blog like this: “I post a lot about relationships, often from a girl’s perspective to prove that there are still guys out there who understand and respect them.”, which seemingly normalizes and validates this absurd crap. Fuck that.
PROTIP: If someone screams and fights you, stop. If someone tells you to stop, stop. Women are real people and, thus, deserve to have their feelings and boundaries considered and respected.
What she said ^^^
Oh come on, guys! This is a little extreme. I don’t care for that romantic bullshit, and I don’t like it when people pretend to throw me in the pool, but jeez! Playing is natural. I tell Marty to stop tickling me all the time, because well, who likes being tickled? But it’s still fun. What, is tickling illegal now, too? Judging by the demeanor of half of the women these days, if they REALLY didn’t like being tickled, they’d probably skip the bullshit and punch the man in his face. But honestly…I refuse to become some uptight bitch running around going I.HAVE.RIGHTS.TOO.BEEP.BEEP. Please. Rape is one thing, but please. Don’t compare it to playing around with your significant other.
